My work at Orion
- I develop and design production control systems for pharmaceutical production.
- Orion’s mentoring programme has helped me navigate my own growth and direction at work.
- I am proud to use my technical expertise to help ensure that medicines are produced efficiently and safely.
What motivates you in your work?
It is inspiring to work at the point where technical solutions can make an entire production system run more efficiently.
My work focuses heavily on data utilization and developing the production management system. Data visualization helps management make better decisions and, in turn, makes everyday production work easier. It is motivating to see technical solutions translate into real benefits for production.
A typical working day
Most of my time is spent on technical tasks such as programming, system development and building different technical solutions.
I spend many hours at the computer, but my day also includes meetings with various experts. From time to time, I visit the production plant to see how our solutions perform in practice.
Although much of my work is independent, I am never alone. Every day, we exchange ideas and solve problems together as a team. It helps all of us stay up to date with how the systems and production processes are developing. Coffee and lunch breaks together are an important part of the working day.
“At Orion, we focus on developing skills and helping people to progress on their paths. The emphasis here is on everyone being able to find the path that’s best for them.”
What kinds of situations remind you of the importance of your work?
The most memorable moments are when operators tell us that our solution has made their work easier. Seeing a solution genuinely support production makes me feel that my work has a purpose. Technical solutions directly influence how medicines can be manufactured more efficiently, safely and quickly for the millions of people who rely on them.
What makes working at Orion special?
At Orion, we focus on developing people’s skills and supporting them as they progress along their own career paths. This encourages internal mobility and reinforces the idea that everyone can find the path that suits them best.
I have access to a mentoring programme where I receive guidance from a senior colleague and can discuss a wide range of work-related topics with them.
The atmosphere is warm and supportive. Supervisors genuinely want to know how their team members are doing. Work can be organised flexibly to suit different life situations, and we are encouraged not to think about work during our time off. It feels as though people truly care, and that is what makes this place special.
What would you say to a younger colleague considering a career at Orion?
At Orion, you can contribute to the development of the health sector while growing as a professional. You are not expected to be ready from day one; what matters is the willingness to learn and the courage to ask questions. Help is always available, and no one is expected to know everything from start to finish.
There is a wide range of opportunities here: different career paths, coaching programmes and mentoring. You can also freely approach colleagues across the organisation. People will always answer your questions, whatever their title.
