Disclosure of information on unsold consumer products

Pursuant to Article 24 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, ‘ESPR’) Orion publishes an annual disclosure of information on discarded unsold consumer products as part of its commitment to waste prevention and transparency.

The scope of this disclosure is limited to non‑medicinal consumer products that fall within the regulation requirements. These include non‑medicinal human and animal health products, such as cosmetics and consumer chemical mixtures, certain medical devices, and biocidal products primarily intended for consumer use. Human and veterinary medicinal products, food (including food supplements), and feed are explicitly excluded, as they fall outside the formal scope of the regulation. All in-scope products are identified based on Combined Nomenclature (CN) codes applied for EU customs purposes.

The volume of discarded unsold products is limited. Discarding primarily occurs mainly due to product quality concerns, or limited shelf‑life constraints. Orion continuously monitors stock levels to minimise surplus and avoid unnecessary disposal.

To further reduce the generation of discarded products, Orion applies preventive measures across its operations. These include proactive stock level management to prevent excess inventory and targeted sales actions for at‑risk inventory and distribution of surplus items for customers when appropriate. When discarding cannot be avoided, products are managed in accordance with applicable waste legislation, and information is reported on quantities, reasons for discarding, and waste treatment operations applied.

This disclosure is updated annually, covering the preceding financial year.
